Getting Close

A lot of people at church today asked me how much longer... I got some kind of weird pleasure seeing their reactions when I told them "two weeks."

Some of them looked at my belly, aghast, as if expecting Jack to be born right there and then.

Some of them assumed that I was ready to have this baby (like, yesterday) and expressed joy and/or relief that I was so close. (Their assumptions are wrong. Not only am I ready and willing to let Jack come when he's ready, but I keep thinking this is my last pregnancy ever and I refuse to look at it as a burden.)

Some of them seemed genuinely shocked, as if they expected me to still be months from my due date. This reaction was not hard to understand. These days and weeks and months have really flown.

Was it really September of 2008 that we first found out?
And told Rachel she was gonna be a big sister?
And told our families?

Was it all the way back in October that we first heard his heartbeat?

And right before Christmas that we found out he was a BOY and named him?

That just happened a few weeks ago, I swear!

Wow.
